Peugeot 3008 Review 2025

Despite customer preference for its hybrid version, Peugeot continued to develop the electric range of the 3008 and introduced its most powerful version with two 325 hp engines and four-wheel drive. More dynamic yes, but not really sporty.

With its SUV-coupe line, the Peugeot 3008 has a more exclusive character than its predecessor. An aesthetic bias that until now had hardly translated into a dynamic plan. In both the 145 hp hybrid and the 210 hp electric version, the third generation of the model is much less pleasant to drive. The fault is excessive mass and a more timid chassis development. With 325 hp, the most powerful version of the French SUV ever launched, the new “Dual Motor” version aims to restore the Peugeot SUV to its lost dynamism, thanks to a second 112 hp engine driving the rear wheels. It is in addition to the 213 hp that drives the front wheels and is found on the 4×2 model. It is the first dual-motor variant of the STLA Medium electric platform presented on the market. This configuration was then applied to other models of the Stellantis group, starting with the DS N°8.

True to form, Peugeot offers several driving modes for this new version that affect the power level and the distribution of roles between the two engines. In normal mode, the 3008 remains a mainly front-wheel drive model, with the rear motor only kicking in when there is a high-power demand. This is also very noticeable for the driver, who feels a slight jolt when he starts work. In these conditions, its maximum power peaks at 312 hp and its torque at 450 Nm. Only in Sport mode are the 325 hp and 509 Nm delivered. This is logically where the SUV deploys the most dynamism, while 40% of the power can be distributed to the rear wheels, within the limit of 112 hp available. Dynamism and not sportiness because acceleration does not have the violence of other electric models, even if the figure of 6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h is very respectable. Peugeot has made some changes to the steering and chassis, which have a slightly firmer damping. Combined with the traction of the rear axle, this type significantly improves the agility of the model.

At a steady pace, this 3008 electric 4×4 winds up curves with a certain appetite, mastering its roll and body movements well. All this, while preserving the comfort level of the 210 hp model. Be careful not to take this new opus for what it is not. Its high weight quickly makes the Michelin e-Premacy tyres “scream” in active driving, even if this does not translate into a massive loss of grip. Nor should we expect to find the ballerina balance of the Peugeots of yesteryear.

The fact remains that without a controlled suspension and with such a mass to suspend, the work done by the engineers and developers can only be congratulated. However, not everything is perfect, since it is possible to fault the battery when driving a little too manly. This then delivers less power, while braking regeneration is inconsistent, as with a simple hybrid model. Thus, when the most powerful mode is engaged, it regularly happens that the deceleration when lifting off the pedal is not what is expected, which affects the fluidity of driving.

Range and charging of the Peugeot 3008 Dual Motor

Peugeot 3008 Electric Dual Motor Review 2025

This new version uses the 73 kWh battery pack from the already known 210 hp version. So there is no question of hoping for new battery life records from this version. Especially since Peugeot has chosen to use the same synchronous motor technology at the rear as at the front, unlike what can be done at Tesla or Audi to save kilowatt hours. The manufacturer announces 490 km of WLTP range, 37 km less than the maximum value promised by the two-wheel drive model. It is a safe bet that most of the difference is attributable to the tyres, the Dual Motor model receiving 20-inch wheels as standard while the 210 hp model is fitted with 19-inch wheels.

However, this 3008 remains relatively sober given its level of power and especially weight, which increases by another 154 kg. We have indeed recorded consumption of less than 20 kWh/100 km on routes that are nevertheless demanding, alternating mountainous roads, city and motorway. The sacrifice to be made in performance is therefore not huge, even if it always makes you cringe to pay more to drive for less time. For the rest, this model unsurprisingly announces the same charging characteristics as the 210 hp model, with a maximum power of 160 kW in DC at a fast charging station, while the AC on-board charger typically delivers a maximum of 11 kW.

Interior and trunk of the Peugeot 3008 Dual Motor First Edition

This new version of the 3008 does not try to play its own part. Peugeot could have brought out the GTI name for the occasion, but the Dual Motor is satisfied with a specific First Edition finish, based on the GT, which adds its optional equipment to the standard equipment. There are therefore no changes to report on board: the dashboard is still as spectacular and well finished, while this version of the i-Cockpit imposes a little less compromise than the others in terms of driving position.

We also appreciate the AGR seats, which offer excellent lateral support. Not everything is perfect, however, as evidenced by the lack of maintenance of the fast-charging slot devoted to the mobile phone. This means that your valuable device is likely to fly through the passenger compartment in the event of a violent change of support. In addition, while the limited space in the rear is unchanged, the trunk of the 3008 Dual Motor loses 44 liters of volume with the arrival of the second engine. However, it retains a double floor, which can be used to house the charging cables.
